Team Ireland Q&A

Brendan Doyle: Official International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) profile

Éire Rowland-Evans: Official International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) profile

Where in the world is your favourite track and why?

Brendan- Whistler. It's the fastest track on tour, and one which is intimidating. It's the track that taught me trying to force an outcome in this sport is slow and painful. I learned a lot of patience and it was a lesson that I carried into life. Now, it's a track that I have so much more fun on, and of course I love the speed!

Éire- So far my favourite track has been Park City! This is where I started to really understand Skeleton and it's the track where I made the biggest improvement! I improved from a 59s downtime (or run) in official training 1, to a time of 51.66 just 3 days later in race 2, run 2. This track is super fast and you reach your top speed by corner 6, so everything happend pretty quick!

What song do you listen to before sliding?

Brendan- I used to listen to EDM but now honestly, I might listen to a podcast or just a random youtube video. I don't really listen to anything, I just chill out and let the competition environment be the boost.

Éire- I am usually listening to something groovy, like some 80s music to lighten the mood and keep me feeling relaxed!

If you weren't a Skeleton Athlete what would you be?

Brendan- I would probably be Olympic lifting or some sort of power based sport, anything that isn't endurance...

Éire- I used to be a competitive swimmer and this is a sport I would have pursued had I not got into sliding sports. I also would like to give Water Polo a go!

What's your favourite food?

Brendan- Potatoes, Pizza and chocolate...

Éire- I LOVE Italian food! Whether its Pizza, Pasta, Gelato, or a good Italian Coffee, I'm there!

What is your favourite film?

Brendan- It's impossible to name just 1 so... The Departed, Inglorious Basterds, Catch me if you can, Inside Out and Django Unchained.

Éire- I also can't name just 1... Guardians of the Galaxy, Hot Fuzz, Bullet Train, Inglorious Basterds and Bridget Jones Diary.
